PALAZZO CORSINI ROME

shadow Palazzo Corsini Rome

Palazzo Corsini is an example of a Roman villa with a Renaissance garden built on Via della Lungara, in the Trastevere district in front of Villa Farnesina.

It has been from the 16th century to the Riario family; in 1736 it was bought by Cardinal Neri Corsini who entrusted the task of expanding the building to Ferdinando Fuga, which transformed it into a real palace.

In 1883 it became the seat of the Academy of the Lincei: the oldest scientific academy in the world, founded in 1603 by Federico Cesi, to cultivate naturalistic studies with the acuity of the "lynx" look.

In the palace was one of the most well-stocked libraries of the capital: within it is kept a precious fund of manuscripts, incunabula, drawings and prints.

On autumn FAI day in October, it was possible to visit the "princess rooms", open spaces in extraordinary way.
