Pacentro is a comune (municipality) in the Province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy.
It is part of the Peligna Mountain Community, the Majella National Park and the Club of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy.

The village is situated in a hilly area (690 m) on the slopes of the Morrone Mountains, guarding the entrance to the Peligna Valley.
The most important architectural element is Castle Caldora, consisting of a complex of three square towers (XIV century) arranged in a quadrilateral plant surrounded by a large moat. In addition, there are 3 rounded towers reinforcing the outer wall (15th century).
The present forms of the castle are the result of a series of interventions over the years since the 13th century.
The castle lived its moment of splendor under the dominion of the Caldora family, protagonist of the historical events that they saw on the throne of the reign of Naples Angioini and Aragonese. (FAI)

The parish church, named after Santa Maria Maggiore or Misericordia, is made up of three aisles divided by octagonal pillars, of a fifteenth-century structure with later altars (of the 500 and 600); The facade, which dates back to the sixteenth century, still has a fifteenth-century impression, and has three portals at the bottom, marked by large pilasters and a central elevation crowned by a tympanum with curved fittings.
The bell tower is sloping, with pyramidal cusp; the bell tower is adorned by a double-bell.
