The place of memory of our Italian railways.
On 3 October 1839 in the Kingdom of the two Sicilies was inaugurated the first railway dā Italy. Was long linked Naples to Portici 7,411 meters, the same Director of the Naples-Salerno line, which now runs alongside lā area of the Museum.
The route was route in 11 minutes from two convoys planned Armand Bayard de la Vingtrie engineer ā, on prototype of ā English George Stephenson.
Lā year after the Royal Decree was issued for the purchase of the first part of the land on which it would be the Pietrarsa complex, in a resort where during the Napoleonic era was stationed a coast, to defend the Bay of Naples.
Lā goal to Ferdinand II was ambitious: to fasten his Kingdom from the technological supremacy of England and France.
